Artist Statement:
I’m a queer, non-binary, interdisciplinary artist who grafts new, potential narratives onto everyday objects and spaces for the audience to encounter. This ‘queering’ results in humorous anti-objects, visual glitches, and experiential anomalies, where these objects and spaces are broken out of their systemic and preconditioned possibilities in order to push them into new territories. The aim is to blur the binary of what they are and what they could be.
The materials I use most in my works are “people’s expectations” as I’m constantly trying to subvert them. My practice is constantly responding to the visual and experiential landscape, creating a tension between the familiar and unfamiliar, attempting to make the rules of engagement more flexible in a seemingly binary world.
