Net Zero (2022)
Modified polyester Canadian flag, flag pole, modified plastic bags, modified plastic bottles
This socially engaged installation used plastic garbage to create an ever-growing net that started with the modified polyester Canadian flag. During the Canadian National Exhibition, plastic bottles and bags were turned into rope, and then weaved to continue the ever-growing net thanks to community involvement. This work transforms a throw-away disposable object into new forms, and the final piece focuses on the metaphorical 'net' that the oil companies and Western governments have knowing created by being complacent with how plastic traps us all.
